Eligibility Criteria for RWF Apprentice 2026

Applicants must have valid registration with the local Employment Exchange. Preference will be given to candidates registered within the jurisdiction of the State of Karnataka.

However, wards of serving Railway employees are exempted from Employment Exchange registration if their application is forwarded through proper channel.

Stipend Details

Selected apprentices will receive monthly stipend as per government norms:

• ₹12,261 per month – Fitter, Machinist, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Turner, Electrician, Electronic Mechanic

• ₹10,899 per month – CNC Programming cum-Operator

The training period is:

• 1 Year for most trades

• 6 Months for CNC Programming cum-Operator

Important: Completion of apprenticeship training does not guarantee employment in Indian Railways.

Selection Process

The selection of candidates will be purely merit-based.

Merit List Preparation

• Based on percentage of marks obtained in 10th class (minimum 50% required).

• Marks from all subjects will be considered for calculating aggregate percentage.

Tie-Breaking Rule

If two candidates have equal marks:

1. Candidate older in age will be preferred.

2. If date of birth is same, the candidate who passed 10th earlier will be given preference.

A final merit list equal to the number of vacancies will be prepared, ensuring reservation guidelines are followed.

Medical Fitness Requirement

Selected candidates must meet medical fitness standards prescribed under the Apprentices Act, 1961 and Apprenticeship Rules, 1992.

A medical certificate from a Government Authorized Doctor (not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon) must be submitted before engagement.

• ₹100 processing fee (via Indian Postal Order or Demand Draft drawn in favour of ‘Principal Financial Adviser / Rail Wheel Factory’)

• No fee for SC/ST/PwBD/Women candidates

• IPO/DD must be issued on or after 28 February 2026
