The Directorate General, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, has released an official recruitment notification for the posts of Assistant Sub Inspector (Radiographer), Assistant Sub Inspector (Pharmacist), Assistant Sub Inspector (Operation Theatre Technician) and Assistant Sub Inspector (Dental Technician) in Group-C Non-Gazetted (Combatised) & Non-Ministerial category. SSB ASI Vacancy 2026 – Post-wise Details

The vacancy breakup is as follows: ASI (Radiographer) – 3 posts (UR-2, SC-1); ASI (Pharmacist) – 2 posts (UR-1, ST-1); ASI (Operation Theatre Technician) – 1 post (UR-1); ASI (Dental Technician) – 1 post (UR-1). Pay Scale & Salary

Selected candidates will be placed in Pay Matrix Level-5: Rs 29200–92300 as per the 7th Central Pay Commission. In addition, they will receive Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Ration Money Allowance, and other admissible allowances as per Government orders. Candidates will be covered under the New Pension Scheme (NPS) or Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) as applicable to new Central Government entrants.

Eligibility Criteria – Educational Qualification & Age Limit

ASI (Radiographer): Candidates must have passed 12th class from a recognised Board, completed a minimum 2-year Diploma in Medical Imaging Technology or Radiography, and have at least 1 year of experience as a Radiographer in a recognised Radiology Imaging Centre or 100-bedded hospital.

ASI (Pharmacist): Candidates must have passed 12th class, completed a 2-year Diploma in Pharmacy from a Central/State Government recognised institution, be registered as Pharmacist under the Pharmacy Act 1948, and have a minimum of 1 year experience in a 100-bedded hospital.

ASI (Operation Theatre Technician): Candidates must have passed 12th class, completed a 2-year Diploma in Operation Theatre Technology, and have minimum 1 year experience as OT Technician in a 100-bedded hospital recognised by Central/State Government.

ASI (Dental Technician): Candidates must have passed 12th class, completed a 2-year Diploma in Dental Hygienist from a recognised institution, be registered with the Dental Council of India, and have minimum 1 year experience in Dental Unit of a Dental Hospital or 100-bedded hospital.

The age limit for SSB ASI recruitment 2026 is between 18 and 27 years for all posts. Age relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, 3 years (after deduction of military service) for Ex-Servicemen, and up to 40/43/45 years for Departmental Candidates (UR/OBC/SC-ST) is available.

Selection Process for SSB ASI 2026

There is no Physical Efficiency Test (PET) for any of these four ASI posts. The selection process consists of the following stages:

Stage I – Physical Standard Test (PST): All candidates must appear for PST. The general height requirement for male candidates is 165 cm (chest 75–80 cm) and for female candidates is 155 cm. Relaxed standards apply for SC/ST, Garhwali, Kumaoni, Gorkha, Dogra, Maratha communities and candidates from North Eastern states.

Stage II – Written Examination (CBT): A Computer Based Test of 3 hours, 150 marks total: Part-I (50 marks) covering General Knowledge, Mathematics, Reasoning and General English/Hindi; Part-II (100 marks) covering Technical Subject. Minimum qualifying marks are 50% for UR/EWS/OBC/Ex-Servicemen and 45% for SC/ST. Final merit is determined solely on written exam marks.

Stage III – Documentation, DME & RME: After written exam, candidates up to 3 times the vacancies (category-wise) will be shortlisted for document verification and Detailed Medical Examination (DME). Candidates declared unfit in DME may appeal for Review Medical Examination (RME), the decision of which is final.

Application Fee

UR, EWS and OBC candidates must pay a non-refundable fee of ₹100/- through net banking, credit card, debit card or UPI. SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen and female candidates are fully exempted from payment of examination fees.
